Yard Waste

It’s the time of year when we start looking at our yards (now that we can see them) and start planning what we’re going to plant this year. More than that, we’re thinking about starting to clean up the yard to do it.

So what do we do with all the yard waste.

Cram that green cart full, of course!!

But when that’s done, what do you do?

There’s three options:

  1. Save the waste for the next collection if you can.
  2. Take it to the Eco Centre
  3. Take advantage of one of the 4 Extra Organics Collections.

A handy tip for if you tend to have a lot of extra leaves is to get a mulching tool of some kind. Mulch the leaves before putting it into your bin will create more space by breaking the leaves into smaller pieces.

Another tip if you happen to use most of your bin space on grass is to grass-cycle or leave your clippings on your lawn. Sidenote: grass-cycling is actually better for your lawn as it replenishes the nutrients grass needs to stay healthy without the use of fertilizer.

Have a great day!
